Write for us
We welcome considered pitches from writers who can help readers understand football’s rules, team shapes, competition formats, equipment or matchday setting. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a full article without agreement.
What to pitch
Bring us a focused subject with a clear reason it will help a general reader follow or make sense of football. A strong proposal identifies the central question, the main points you would explain and the category it might fit. Fresh angles on familiar parts of the game are welcome when they offer a specific, useful explanation.
A useful proposal
Keep the pitch concise and tell us what the piece would cover, who it is for and what readers should understand by the end. Explain any specialist terms you expect to use and flag details that may vary by competition. We value careful scope, plain language and an original approach more than grand claims.
Sending a pitch
Use the Contact page, choose the editorial question option and include your proposed title, focus and a short note about your approach. Please do not include confidential information. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication, and any commissioned work would need to meet the publication’s editorial standards.
